2016 Wedding Trends

Congrats to all the newly engaged couples! Planning a wedding is so much fun! At the start of every new year there is always a lot of talk about the predicted trends for the upcoming year, so today I am going to share a few of my favorites!

Couples today are really putting their own personal style into their weddings so every wedding is unique and really a reflection of that couple. And they want their guests to have fun! Signature cocktails, mimosa bars, whiskey, beer or wine tastings, wedding hashtags or un-plugged weddings, co-ed bridal parties, mixed tables and centerpieces, and interactive food stations, like a taco or waffle bar with all kinds of fun fillings and toppings, are all ways to incorporate your personal likes while keeping it interesting and fun for your guests.

Casual, care-free brides are still loving the Boho and wildflower trends. Think lace dresses, wild florals, lots of natural elements, such as wood, but look for 2016 to bring more color! One way to add more color... Rose Petals! Use them on your aisles, tables, or anywhere you want to draw attention and add some extra color.

Petals in Every Color

Another trend expected to be big this year is the use of metallics. Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper will all make appearances but the one expected to rise above the rest is Rose Gold. Metallics can be used in any theme and in any season, but I believe we will see it used even more in modern or elegant events. Think classic black and white weddings with a pop of metallic shine.

Let’s end with some dessert! Naked cakes or cakes with buttercream frosting are being preferred over cakes covered in fondant. Not a cake person? Try a dessert table with several different types of pies, cheesecakes with different toppings, or a display of different cookies and candies. Having some different options lets your guests choose their favorites and it can make for a fun display.
