5 Tips for Using Flyboy Naturals Petals on a Budget

Did you know that the average wedding cost in the US is $26,444 with couples typically spending somewhere between $19,833 and $33,055! I have to admit my jaw dropped a bit when I read that. Having a wedding budget in place and understanding what you can afford to spend is a very important part of planning for this big day. At Flyboy Naturals we understand that this can be overwhelming, expensive and honestly, a bit daunting. To help our brides and grooms, of all budgets, we are starting a three part series in hopes of providing some ideas for every level. So whether your wedding is going to be a luxury affair or completed on the tightest of budgets, we’ll have something in this series that works for you! Let’s get started with 5 tips for weddings on a budget.

1.) Shop Our Imperfect Petals

Flyboy Naturals is happy to offer our discounted Brides on a Budget Imperfect Petals they feature all the same eco-friendly, non-slippery wonder of our other petals but during processing we determined these to be slightly imperfect. Slightly imperfect can mean a number of things; they didn’t match our color needs in a particular category, they were slightly faded, had small spots or were misshapen. We have tried to make sure the photos we show you in this category represent some of these slightly imperfect features so you can get a feel for what you might expect from these petals. Our imperfect petals almost always include other petals within the package that are of higher quality as it is difficult to go through every petal, meaning you receive quite a few perfect petals along with the imperfections!

Imperfect petals are an excellent choice for the petal toss as most guests aren’t going to be looking at the petals until it’s time for the toss to take place, the wedding toss usually happens fairly quickly and it would be difficult to point out imperfections as the beautiful petals sail through the air. If you have concerns about guests noticing your petals are imperfect you can opt to fill your petal toss cones or baskets with imperfect petals on the bottom and a small layer of our traditional petals on the top.

Imperfect petals also look great down the aisle as most guests are not going to be looking that closely at the petals on the floor. They can also be used in flower girl baskets or floating in a candle arrangement. In fact, our imperfect petals can be used almost everywhere. Perhaps the only place we would suggest not using them is for petal table decorations where the petals would be at eye-level for guests to closely examine them.

2.) Scatter Your Wedding Aisle

Instead of filling the aisle way with a thick covering of petals go with the beautiful and delicate scattered look. We have done the calculations before and a full aisle way will take approximately 6+ cups of petals per square foot, but the lightly scattered look only requires about 1.5 - 2 cups of petals per square foot. The scattered petal look works very well outdoors when you can find a focal point at the end of the aisle to draw your guests attention to, for example in a garden wedding there might be a large, eye-catching tree at the end of the aisle like in this setting here:

Sometimes, the right venue lends itself to such beautiful features and textures that a delicate scattering of petals is all that you would want to use, this allows the colors and textures take focus instead as shown here:

3.) Skip the Pre-Decorating of the Aisle & Let Your Flower Girls do the Tossing

Instead of pre-decorating the aisle way let your adorable flower girls do the work! We have estimated that each flower girl should carry around 6 to 12 cups of petals, that’s a lot less than it takes to pre-decorate your aisle! You must admit, flower girls are the best! Who doesn’t love to see these youngsters all dolled up for a big wedding day. Flower girls tend to steal the show and lighten the mood before the bride appears, let them work their magic and toss the petals in traditional fashion:

4.) Skip the Aisle & Decorate the end of the Aisle Instead

If you have a long aisle way it may be expensive to decorate the whole aisle, but you can focus on decorating the end of the aisle way or altar area with petals instead! Check out these unique end-of-aisle petal ideas. These range from simple to more extravagant, but it you haven’t used Flyboy Naturals petals anywhere else it may still be a budget-friendly option to go all out here:

5.) Combine Rose Petals with Candles

Some things were just meant to go together, which is probably why we are always showcasing our rose petals with candle light. It doesn’t matter if it’s the wedding aisle, a romantic dinner, or a bathtub full of petals, roses and candle light make all of these better! We’ve discovered that most dollar stores sell plain glass vases and you often pick up whole cases at a time, or put your thrifting skills to work and try thrift stores and garage sales where you can typically pick up vases for 25-75 cents! Check out these gorgeous aisles combining the two in budget friendly, yet absolutely stunning, presentations:

Tell us...how do you plan to use your wedding petals?  We would love to hear all about it!!
