Pretty n’ Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Pretty n’ Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It’s October, which means the excitement for all things fall and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To learn more about Breast Cancer and download your free Breast Health Guide please visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. You may have seen football players donning pink in their ‘Pink October’ campaigns or noticed friends and family sporting their favorite pink outfits for a local walk-a-thon -- but today we want to share some unique pretty, pink, awareness-supporting wedding ideas! These ideas would be beautiful additions to any wedding and especially if breast cancer has touched you, your family or your friends.

Pink Wedding Dresses

You can make a real statement when you wear pink instead of white or ivory on your wedding day with these fabulous pink wedding dress options. On the left we have a David’s Bridal tulle ball gown in a warm pink tone and on the right a three-quarter length sleeved ball gown from Alfred Angelo, who now offers an entire “Hint of Hue” selection with plenty of pink options!

Pink Dress Accessories

If a pink wedding dress doesn’t suit you, try some of these pink dress accessories instead. This light pink silk sash from L. Erickson is available at Nordstrom and this grosgrain ribbon sash from Essense of Australia, on the right, is available in a selection of colors including this beautiful pale pink.

For a super sweet and special touch, the garter belt can be dedicated to a loved one or even celebrate your survivor date. This custom garter belt (top) by The Garter Girl was created in memory of the bride’s mother. You can also add a touch of pink on your veil, this tulle and satin veil is from Mikelina Art or add a simple touch of pink with these custom made shoe clips by Sofisticata.

Men’s Wear Accessories

There are lots of great ways for the groom, groomsmen, and other family members to incorporate the pink ribbon too. We adore this navy blue and pink tie from One Tattered Shoe, these cuff links by Perfect Cufflinks or this breast cancer awareness bow tie by Asher Tailored.

Wedding Favors & Donations

One of the neatest ideas we’ve seen are wedding favors that, when purchased, result in a donation to a breast cancer charity or in lieu of favors the couple donates the money they would have spent on favors to a charity of their choice. A couple could also register for donations in lieu of wedding gifts using a site like justgive.org to organize all of their donations. We recommend using Charity Navigator, a website that helps you evaluate and select well-rated charities, to select the best-fit charities for your donations.

The American Cancer Society offers scrolls that indicate that a donation to the fight against cancer has been made in honor of the couple getting married and in lieu of traditional wedding favors. The couple can customize the text, paper and add some customized touches to these scrolls. The beautiful scrolls are then placed at each guest’s seat and make an elegant addition to the table setting. They also offer cards and table tents indicating the same:

Pink Ribbon Desserts

Another sweet spot to add a touch of pink for Breast Cancer Awareness is at the dessert table. These pink ribbon cupcake wrappers (top left) by Favors by Serendipity are super sweet because Serendipity donates a portion of the proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. You can find the recipe for these Pink Ribbon Meringues here (bottom left); rumor has it they taste like cotton candy, yum! Or simply arrange pink cupcakes in the form of a large pink ribbon, so simple, but so meaningful.

Pink Petals

What wedding is complete without some beautiful pink rose petals or pink peony petals?! At Flyboy Naturals we have so many shades and tones of pink petals you are sure to find the perfect pink petal to fit your wedding needs. You could create pink ribbon scrolls with petals down the aisle way or on a memorial table in honor of a loved one. Cover chairs with pink petals in honor of loved one’s past, or write a dedication inside your petal toss cones.

Pink Pumpkins for Pink October

To tie your pink wedding into this beautiful fall season, decorate pumpkins in pink!
