Petals for Every Occasion - Bridal Showers | Flyboy Naturals

Let's continue on in our journey into how to use petals for every occasion! Today we are going to continue on with the wedding journey; we started with the proposal, and then moved on to the engagement party and now, the next bash... The Bridal Shower!

The origin of the bridal shower dates back to 16th or 17th Century Netherlands where a young Dutch maiden fell in love with a nice, but poor, miller. Her father did not approve however and said if she did not marry the wealthy man he had selected for her, she would lose her dowry. The village people were saddened by this and wanted the young maiden and the miller to be happy together so one by one they brought her gifts, they didn't have much but they brought vases and plates and linens, and together gave her a bigger dowry than her father could. And so they married. Years later an Englishwoman remembered the story as her friend was about to marry and although she didn't have much to give she wanted to wish her friend well and she knew others would too. So they 'showered' her with gifts and a tradition was born.*

You could also 'shower' the bride with petals! Or you could just use them to decorate...either way, be sure to check out Flyboy Naturals for all natural, eco-friendly, non-staining and non-slippery freeze dried petals! Also, during the Spring and Summer you can get fresh cut Peonies (available May-June) and Hydrangeas (available June - October) from Flyboy Naturals, which are perfect for creating simple yet elegant centerpieces! Take a look at these real Bridal Showers for some gorgeous inspiration...

This Red and White Bridal Shower was held at ICI restaurant in Brooklyn, the all white private room decorated in Red, the Brides favorite color. Red roses and rose petals completed the look and place cards were made by writing the names in gold pen on the red rose petals.
