Hot Wedding Trends for 2017 - Check Out our Top Predictions for the New Year

It’s hard to believe 2016 is already coming to a close; it’s time to finalize the plans for your winter engagements and, dare I say, begin planning your 2017 wedding! Let’s take a look at some of the fresh and fun wedding ideas we expect to see in the New Year.

GREENERY GALORE: The Pantone Color Institute, a world-renowned authority on all things color, has just announced the 2017 color of the year as “Greenery”. They describe it as a “refreshing and revitalizing shade...symbolic of new beginnings.” This fits so perfectly in the wedding industry in both its symbolism of new beginnings for the newlyweds and it also provides a beautiful, vibrant shade that is easy to work with throughout the wedding. We expect to see bouquets full of fresh greens, green focal flowers like our stunning green hydrangeas (available June - October) and plenty of outdoor weddings that are full of nature’s own green backdrop.

ROMANTIC FLORAL DESIGNS: Tucked into all that greenery we expect to see bouquets, centerpieces and garlands full of large, romantic and timeless flowers like peonies, garden roses and dahlias paired with smaller, soft and delicate florals like spray roses, ranunculus and delicate little daisies and poms. Long tables decorated from end to end in eucalyptus garlands accented with these pretty romantic and aromatic blooms like this one from 100 Layer Cake:

We begin pre-booking our fresh cut peonies for 2017 on January 1st, 2017 - so stay tuned if you plan on using these beauties in your upcoming wedding! We can help book your order before the season even starts to guarantee your peonies.

FANCY PHOTOGRAPHY: It’s been years now that social media has found its way into the inner workings of weddings. We’ve seen couples go “Facebook Official” on a large screen in front of their wedding party quite a few times now, but in 2017 we expect to see an increase in photo packages that include traditional photography paired with videography, Instagram video add-ons, and professional drone footage options offering unique angles and of course the ever popular photo booths. Photo booths are increasing in their technology and their more glamorous appearances offering all kinds of fun features from slow motion videos to animated GIF booths, silly but so fun and an easy way to entertain guests while you off taking your wedding photos!

LAYERS OF RUFFLES: Everywhere we look we see this new ruffled, layered look. It’s been all over the wedding dress runway for 2017 ideas. We’re also seeing fun ruffled table runners and table skirts, bridesmaid dresses and veils. The ruffles look great everywhere from a country barn, think burlap and lace layers to a more sophisticated affair with silk and satin layers.

PETALS EVERYWHERE: And we’re not just saying this because we are a rose petal company, BridalGuide.com recently wrote in their 2017 Wedding Trend predictions, “Peonies, in particular are in high demand, with one planner noting that some brides will time their weddings to take place when peonies are in peak season. Loose rose petals, used as a “garland” or runner atop tables or scattered among floating candles, are another trend that's coming on strong.”Rose petals are classic, timeless and can be used in so many places throughout the wedding. We expect to see brides incorporating rose petals all throughout their weddings all down the aisle, mixed with greenery, on the reception tables and cake tables, in the flower girl baskets, for the wedding toss and so much more!
